The CVB Food Bank Story

When Marcus Rashford stared his Free School Meals Campaign in 2020, we were shocked to see the scale of food poverty in Britain.

Many of our customers got in touch with us to see whether they could buy boxes of our fruit and veg for us to donate to families in the local area that had fallen on hard times.

We quickly realised the scale of the issue within local communities, which had been amplified by the consequences of the pandemic, and knew that we were in a position to be able to help out.

We set up our Pay-it-Forward Fund which allowed our customers to buy a £10 box of fruit and veg which we then took to households in need in the local area. We were overwhelmed with the support we received and were able to make donations to the local food bank with the money we had raised.

Since then, we have worked closely with the Cotswold Food Bank Network, delivering hundreds of our boxes to their clients in the local area.

Our Pay-it-Forward fund has raised over £3,000 to tackle food poverty in our local community and we have plans to increase our fundraising efforts this year.

We are also working with the local council on their Holiday Activity and Food HAF program. Through this scheme we provide families that would normally receive free school meals with veg boxes during school holidays.

Through recent expansion of our business, we are now able to send our boxes to any UK mainland address so please get in touch if you would like to partner with us to help tackle food poverty in your area.

Box contents & allergy advice

We aim to keep our boxes consistent. Due to seasonality and availability, though, we may have to change items from time to time. In the event of us having to change items we will swap them for something similar for example spinach could swap for kale, an aubergine may swap for red peppers or a mango might trade with a watermelon.

If you have any allergies then please let us know in advance via email.

We operate in a clean and hygienic space but it is a space that will have contained nuts at one point or another even if we have not contained within the boxes.

We love getting our box every Saturday! Our fussy three year old is always so excited to see what arrives and it helps introduce her to different produce. We’re a vegetarian household and the weekly premium box is just right for feeding two hungry adults and two toddlers. Great quality at a great price - highly recommended!

Great selection of high-quality fruit and vegetables at what we think is less than we'd pay for passable stuff from the superstores. Well worth paying the extra for the large premium box, it's enough for a family for at least a week and for us two it lasts us two weeks.

  • You don't need to be at home. In fact, more than 70% of customers are out when we deliver. Deliveries are made by your local vegman/lady (not a courier), who works on a 'round' basis on a set day to maximise efficiency and reduce food miles.
