Supplier Spotlight: MOR Bakery

We’re personally huge fans of MOR and the decision to stock their sourdough and pastries was mainly a selfish one to ensure we never run out of bread to dunk in our soup, soak up the last of the stew or have a slice of hot, buttery toast after a crisp, autumnal dog walk.

What we REALLY love about all of our suppliers is the back story to what led them to create/make/bake the wonderful produce we deliver to your door each week.

For MOR, the inspiration came while enjoying a coffee and almond croissant, sat in one of Copenhagen's many cafes. MOR, the Danish word for Mother, is the name of our sourdough starter. MOR was founded by David who was driven by his passion for baking and his love of the bold and flavourful.

Due to open their doors in Stratford-upon-Avon in March 2020, lockdown was announced. Plans were changed and adaptation became their way of being.  They diversified into providing baked goods and essentials from their hatch (where we were regulars) and delivered to homes. A visit to the hatch became a regular feature in the rituals of the local community. The wait to open their doors was made worth it that late Summer when they were warmed and energised by being able to share their inside space.

In 2021 it became clear that capacity of the much loved Stratford space needed to be increased to feed the hunger for MOR bread and knowledge, and so their offerings at Chipping Campden and Chipping Norton were established.

MOR HQ is their bakery headquarters, based in Chipping Campden - a short roll down the hill from CVB HQ. The place where the magic starts. A place to bake, meet and share knowledge.

The move to Campden was filled with many long days orchestrating building work and nights spent baking.

After many delays the hard work paid off and they can now share their knowledge from the dedicated cookery school which overlooks the production bakery and cafe.

We highly recommend popping into one of their cafes to see the huge range of pastries on offer and sampling their fab coffee. However, conveniently, if you can’t make it them, we’ll deliver it to you!
